Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Getting Started

How do I get started?
Contact us by phone or through the website to schedule your first appointment. We’ll answer any initial questions and help you take the next step.

What happens in the first session?
Your first session is an opportunity to discuss what brings you in, review your history, and clarify your goals. It’s also a chance to see if the fit feels right.

Do I need to know exactly what’s wrong before starting therapy?
Not at all. Many people begin therapy feeling uncertain—part of the process is gaining clarity and direction.

About Therapy

What is therapy like?
Therapy is a collaborative, confidential process focused on helping you better understand yourself, manage challenges, and create meaningful change.

How often will we meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions. Frequency can be adjusted over time based on your needs and progress.

How long does therapy last?
It depends on your goals. Some people attend short-term to address a specific issue, while others continue longer for deeper growth.

Is what I share confidential?
Yes. Everything discussed is confidential, with a few legal exceptions (such as risk of harm or mandated reporting), which will be explained clearly.

Insurance & Payment

Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We accept insurance and can help verify your benefits so you understand your coverage and any out-of-pocket costs.

What if I have questions about my coverage?
We’re happy to help you navigate your benefits and explain how your plan applies to therapy.

Session Options

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
We offer both in-person and secure telehealth sessions, allowing you to choose what works best for your schedule and comfort.

Is telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?
Yes. For many concerns, telehealth is just as effective and offers added convenience and accessibility.

Common Concerns

What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?
That’s completely normal. Therapy moves at your pace, and building comfort and trust is part of the process.

How do I know if therapy is working?
Progress can look like improved mood, better coping, clearer thinking, or healthier relationships. We’ll regularly review your goals and progress together.

What if I don’t feel a connection with my therapist?
A good fit matters. If something feels off, we can discuss adjustments or help connect you with another provider.

Why Group or Individual Therapy?

Do you offer group therapy?
Yes. We offer structured groups (such as DBT skills and mental health awareness groups) that provide support, skill-building, and shared learning.

What are the benefits of group therapy?
Group therapy offers connection, perspective, real-time feedback, and a supportive environment to practice new skills.

Final Questions

What if I’m not sure therapy is right for me?
That’s okay. A brief consultation can help you decide—no pressure.

What’s the most important thing to know before starting?
You don’t need to have everything figured out—just a willingness to begin.
